After struggling to find community on my second cross-country road trip, gas stations became a cherished communal space, full of meaningful interactions—equally potent with feelings of vitality and impermanence. Documenting these interactions continues to revitalize a sense of hope about the unknown experience of meeting new people. Strangers, though unfamiliar by definition, are one of the most readily available sources of meaningful human interaction and collectively hold their own space in my heart—a space that is ever-growing and indeed becoming quite familiar.
